SOFT-SHIELD 3700: A Soft EMI Gasket for High-Temperature Environments

As electronic devices become smaller and more densely integrated, the importance of EMI/RFI noise countermeasures continues to increase. This is especially true in automotive electronics, where electrification and advanced functionality have led to the increased use of ECUs, inverters, converters, and various control units. As a result, stable shielding performance must be secured within limited installation spaces.

SOFT-SHIELD 3500 is a relatively low-cost soft EMI gasket that offers excellent flexibility and can be used with low compression force. However, its operating temperature range is -40°C to 70°C, which may limit its use in environments where temperatures exceed 70°C.

SOFT-SHIELD 3700 is designed to address these challenges in high-temperature applications. By wrapping silicone foam with conductive fabric, it can be used within a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. It also provides high shielding performance in the 100MHz to 3GHz range, while offering excellent flexibility with low compression force. This allows it to accommodate gaps and dimensional tolerances in enclosures.

SOFT-SHIELD 3700 is particularly suitable for EMI countermeasure applications in automotive electronic components that generate heat, such as automotive ECUs, inverters, DC-DC converters, onboard chargers (OBC), ADAS-related units, and camera units. It is also expected to be useful in various high-temperature applications where noise countermeasures are required, including semiconductor manufacturing equipment, industrial equipment, and consumer electronic devices.

For high-temperature areas where conventional soft gaskets may be difficult to use, SOFT-SHIELD 3700 offers an effective solution that combines flexibility, shielding performance, and cost efficiency.
